Comparisons with 比 (bǐ)
To compare in Chinese, put 比 between the two things and the adjective after: 他比我高 (he's taller than me). There's no word for '-er'.
The essentials
- A 比 B + adjective: 今天比昨天冷. Never 很 here: not 他比我很高.
- How much more: after the adjective, 他比我高一点儿, 他比我大三岁.
- Not as … as: A 没有 B (那么) + adjective: 我没有他那么高.
- The same: A 跟 B 一样 + adjective. More and more: 越来越冷; the more … the more: 越看越喜欢.
