Questions
How does the Spanish level test work?
You begin with five A0 questions such as ser or estar and hay. Three right answers take you up to A1, and so on through A2, B1, B2 and C1 to C2. A single weak level doesn't end it; a second one does. You get the highest level you passed.
Which Spanish does the test use?
Spain's Spanish, the course's default: los servicios for the toilets, for example. No right answer depends on the variety, so someone who learnt in Mexico or Buenos Aires scores the same. One C2 question asks what a Mexican speaker says to two friends.
Is the result a DELE or SIELE level?
No. The Instituto Cervantes runs the official DELE diplomas (A1 to C2) and the SIELE, which also test listening, speaking and writing. This free check looks only at grammar and usage and gives a CEFR estimate in a few minutes.
Where do the questions come from?
From the hand-written practice questions in SparkAI's Spanish lessons, chosen so each has one right answer and real Spanish forms as the wrong options. Each attempt draws five of them per level at random, so a retake asks different questions.
