Questions
How does the German conjugation drill work?
Choose the tenses and a group of verbs, then type one form at a time, for example "du · fahren · Präsens" → fährst. Writing the pronoun is optional ("du fährst" counts too), and a form you get wrong is asked again a few questions later.
Which tenses and verbs are included?
Präsens, Präteritum, Perfekt, Konjunktiv II and the imperative, for 85 everyday verbs: sein, haben and werden, the modal verbs, strong and irregular verbs, regular verbs and separable verbs such as aufstehen and anrufen.
How are separable verbs and the Perfekt asked?
As they appear in a main clause: "ich stehe auf", "er rief an". The Perfekt is the helper verb plus the participle ("habe gemacht", "bin gegangen"); the drill knows which verbs take sein, and accepts the regional sein with sitzen, stehen and liegen.
What if my keyboard has no umlauts?
Use the ä ö ü ß keys under the answer box, or type ae, oe, ue and ss: both count. A missing umlaut is pointed out, and marked wrong only when it turns the word into another form (wurde for würde).
