Your AI German tutor, inside a real course

An AI partner that talks to you in German at your level and shows you which case or ending went wrong, and why. It is part of a free 140-lesson German course from A0 to C2: three guest prompts, then a free account.

What a conversation looks like

An example at A2. In the app, corrections stay hidden under your message until you tap them.

Hallo, Sam! Wie war dein Wochenende in Hamburg?

Sehr gut! Ich bin an der Elbe spazieren gegangen und habe einen sehr gut Kuchen gegessen.

✏️ Correctionseinen sehr gut Kuchen → einen sehr guten Kuchen: after einen, an adjective before a masculine noun in the accusative ends in -en · lesson: adjective endings after ein

Lecker! Und mit wem warst du unterwegs?

How it speaks at each level

Everything the AI does in SparkAI

Conversation partner

Chat in German about your week, your job or where you live. The AI stays inside the grammar you've reached, and keeps corrections out of sight until you ask.

Role-play real situations

The Bäckerei, the Bürgeramt, a WG-Casting, a cancelled train: scenarios from A0 to C2, with the AI playing the other person.

Correct my writing

Paste an email or a short text and see what to fix and why: the case, the ending, the word order.

Ask about grammar

Why dem and not den? When does the verb go to the end? Ask in English or in German.

Why was I wrong?

After a wrong answer in a lesson, the AI explains what went wrong in your answer, in plain English, beside the rule.

Stories written for you

Name a topic and get a short German story at your level, with tap-to-translate.

Pronunciation coaching

Read a sentence aloud and get tips on ü, ö, ch or the r, based on what the recogniser heard and your rhythm.

Mistakes come back in review

When the AI corrects a wrong ending in a chat, the correction is filed under the lesson that teaches it, such as adjective endings after ein, and if you have already done that lesson it is due for review again today.

Limits

The AI is free up to 150 messages a day, reset daily; the lessons, flashcards and reading are unlimited. The AI can be wrong, and the lessons are the reference. Pronunciation tips come from your browser's speech recognition, not from a teacher listening. See also German conversation practice.

Questions

Can you learn German with AI?

It's a strong practice partner: you can write a sentence with three cases in it and get each ending checked straight away. The cases, endings and word order still need teaching in a sensible order, which is the course's part.

Is there a free AI German tutor?

Yes. Conversation, corrections and mistake explanations share a daily allowance of 150 AI messages. The first three need no account; after that a free one does.

Does the AI accept Austrian and Swiss German?

Yes. It knows you're learning the Standard German of Germany by default and never marks Austrian or Swiss Standard German as a mistake: Jänner, Grüezi, Velo, or ss in place of ß are all fine.

Can a complete beginner use it?

Yes. At A0 the AI uses short sentences and gives you answers to copy. Write in English when you're stuck, and it replies with the simple German for what you meant.

Does the AI make mistakes?

It can, like any AI. The 140 grammar lessons are written separately and remain the reference.

Are conversations private?

Conversations are stored with your progress, on your device and in your account if you have one. To answer, messages are sent to our AI provider, which processes them only to produce the reply. SparkAI doesn't sell your data or use it to train AI models.
