Questions

Is this a TCF score?

No. It is an estimated CEFR level from up to 20 grammar and reading questions. The TCF also tests listening, speaking and writing, and only the official test gives a result you can use.

How is the level estimated?

Questions start at A1 and get harder while you keep answering correctly: 4 per level, and 3 right moves you up (one shaky level is forgiven). Your estimate is the last level you passed.

Why do you ask for my goal?

To show how far your estimate is from the level that goal asks for: A2 for a first multi-year residence card, B1 for a first resident card, B2 for naturalisation, and B2 as a rough guide for NCLC 7 in Canada.

Do I need an account?

No. The estimate is free and needs no sign-up. You can leave your email for early access to the TCF prep pack if you want to; it's optional.
