Free A0 Spanish course: complete beginner
A0 is the very start, with no Spanish yet or a few words from a holiday. You'll learn how Spanish sounds and is spelled, greet people, say who you are, count to twenty, and build your first sentences with ser, estar and tener.
22 grammar lessons, 9 graded stories, flashcards and an AI conversation partner, all free.
What you'll be able to do
- Listening: I can recognise hola, gracias, por favor, adiós and other everyday greetings.
- Speaking: I can say my name, where I'm from and how I am (Me llamo…, Soy de…, Estoy bien).
- Speaking: I can ask very simple questions such as ¿Cómo te llamas? and ¿Cuánto cuesta?
- Reading: I can read numbers, prices and simple signs (Entrada, Salida, Cerrado, Aseos).
- Reading: I can sound out a written Spanish word, because Spanish spelling mostly shows how it's said.

Questions
Can I learn Spanish from zero for free?
Yes. The Spanish course starts at A0 with the vowels, greetings and ser, estar and tener, and it's free, with no account needed to begin.
Is Spanish pronunciation hard?
Less than in most languages. Spanish spelling is very regular, so once you know the letters you can read almost any word aloud. The first three lessons cover the vowels, the surprising consonants and word stress.
Do I need to know grammar terms?
No. You'll meet terms like preterite and subjunctive, but each one arrives with a plain-English explanation and Spanish examples to listen to.
