DELF B2 pass mark and scoring

To pass the DELF B2 you need at least 50 out of 100 overall and at least 5 out of 25 in every one of the four sections.

Each section is out of 25, for 100 points in all:

Listening (Compréhension de l'oral): 25 points
Reading (Compréhension des écrits): 25 points
Writing (Production écrite): 25 points
Speaking (Production orale): 25 points

The second line is the one to remember: a high total doesn't save a section under 5.

How each section is scored

Reading and listening: multiple-choice and matching questions, each worth a set number of points (half points included), totalling 25 per section. See reading and listening.
Writing and speaking: two examiners use the official grid: five criteria, each given 0, 1, 3 or 5 points. See writing and speaking.

Questions

What is the pass mark for the DELF B2?

50 out of 100, with at least 5 out of 25 in each of the four sections.

Can a strong section make up for a weak one?

Only above the minimum. A section under 5/25 fails the exam whatever the total, so 80/100 with one section at 4 is a fail.

Is the score given in half points?

Yes, half points exist in the marking of individual questions. SparkAI keeps them and doesn't round your section totals.

How long is the DELF B2 valid?

The DELF diploma is valid for life.
