Asking

Start with Entschuldigung (excuse me), then ask:

  • Wie komme ich zum Bahnhof / zur Post? How do I get to the station / the post office?
  • Wo ist hier…? Where is … around here?
  • Gibt es hier in der Nähe einen Supermarkt? Is there a supermarket near here?

zu takes the dative (Prepositions with the dative: aus, bei, mit, nach, seit, von, zu): zum = zu dem (der and das nouns), zur = zu der (die nouns).
